Alcohol Poisoning and Infrequent Drinking

It is regrettable but some people have the mistaken conception that they can drink excessively once or twice per year on “special occasions” without experiencing any dangerous effects.  What these people do not realize is that getting drunk even once can result is alcohol poisoning.  How is this possible you may ask?  Let us say that John Smith only gets drunk on his birthday.  Since John drinks so infrequently, it does not take too many drinks before John is legally intoxicated.  If John continues to drink, he may drink more than his body can metabolize.  When this happens, John will more likely than not experience some of the following symptoms of alcohol poisoning:  vomiting, erratic behavior, irregular breathing, seizures, passing out, or confusion.  Sadly, in some instances alcohol poisoning can be deadly.
