Do You Really Think You Can Get Away Without Having Health Insurance?
A friend of mine was moaning a few months ago because he had spent a fortune on car insurance over the years and had never had an accident and so never made a claim on his policy. Indeed, he said that the only reason he ‘wasted’ all this money was because he was legally obliged to carry motor insurance. He went on to say that at least the same was not true of health insurance and so, having not even visited his doctor for several years, he was at least saving a small fortune there. I visited that same friend yesterday in hospital where he was recovering from serious injuries following a road traffic accident and needless to say he had changed his opinion. Insurance is designed to cover the unexpected and even he now agrees that we should all have at least low cost health insurance to cover major medical emergencies.
