making an impact as a medical doctor
As a medical doctor, I am told often that I am making an impact in my patient,s life by being there and listening to their problems and finding solutions to them. I sometimes wondered though if this impact is of significance. Although it is obvious when you save a person’s life, my impact as a family physician feels less when I hand out presciptions for creams that are sold over the counter.
In 2004 I started doing a medical mission and I felt a deeper involvement as people never get to see a doctor and are really suffering from malnutrition and parasite infections.
