Not Worth it For a Scammer
My neighbor collects Social Security disability benefits. I used to think lots of the people getting disability were scamming the government, having heard stories about and even seen tv shows where they set up hidden cameras and catch people with bad backs lifting heavy stuff, etc. But I don’t think too much of that is going on anymore. My neighbor has a legit problem with his heart, and no longer can work doing the carpentry he’s done for over thirty years, and really isn’t qualified to do any other type of work. But he had to wait over a year before they even heard his claim, then they denied it on some kinda technicality. Was almost two years before he finally got any money, he wound up having to pay a special disability benefits lawyer five grand, and he doesn’t even get a thousand dollars a month. If I was going to try and rip the government off, I think I’d find a different program.
