Prescription drug abuse is a serious problem says Baroness

Baroness Masham of the all-party parliamentary group on drug misuse has spoken of the dangers of prescription drug abuse, dragging a largely hidden addiction out of the shadows and into the limelight. She pointed to the availability of prescription drugs on the internet as a cause for concern, claiming that doctors where unable to fully understand the scale of the problem as patients were able to sidestep their GP to obtain such drugs. She also reported that a solution could not be found in making all drugs legal as over-the-counter drugs were proving to be a serious problem.Recent media reports have suggested that Britain could be on the verge of a prescription drug crisis with drug rehab centres reporting increased numbers of those with prescribed drug dependencies.
